Having purchased the Claro Whisper DC fans from Ceiling Fans Warehouse previously and being very with their service and after-sales support, naturally i went back to them to purchase this fan for my study. It helps that their prices were the best on the market, although given their support previously, i would still buy from them unless prices were very much off the market.
I was looking for another Whisper in the same colour scheme as the others but they weren’t available (could only see them in all white).
I read the specs of the Whisper DC as well as the Elgo Seacliff DC and found that the Elgo was more efficient as well as potentially more quiet at the low speeds. Since the fan was going to be in quite a small room (3m x 3.4m), I would be almost under the fan. The light is not rated as bright as the Whisper but would be adequate for general lighting. I’ve noticed that it feels a bit more harsh than the Whisper (the shadows are more defined). Still, it does the job adequately and i knew that it would only be used as general lighting here and there.
All i needed from the fan was to move air smoothly around without any whooshing or motor sounds. Happily, the Seacliff is almost entirely quiet at 1 and 2, with #1 being just a gentle breeze on your skin, almost like opening a window in a stuffy room or taking a step outside and getting a deep breath of air. I feel it runs slower than the DC (subjectively) at the lowest setting but still moves air adequately in my room. I won’t really need to run it higher than #3 or it will blow everything off the table!
I thought the remote quite busy (and ugly) compared to the more sleek ovals of the other fans, but i’ve come to appreciate the larger prominent buttons and direct controls for everything.
In terms of appearance, the blades are quite chunky and look almost like they are wooden planks, although of course, they are plastic. The base around the motor is a touch larger than i would have liked, but overall, for the price paid especially, it looks stylish and suits the other decor in my study.
Summary? V happy with my purchase and would buy again, esp from Ceiling Fans Warehouse.
